Market square in Spremberg closed: shuttle to the club festival causes chaos!

There will be a lot going on in Spremberg in the coming days! From July 11th to 14th, 2025, the market square in Spremberg will remain closed due to various events. This measure affects the entire period from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Monday, which means that parking and stopping on the market square are not permitted during this time. The Small Market remains accessible to anyone who still wants to go towards the city center - although access is only possible via Schlossstrasse.

The closure ensures that the connection from the market square to the small market cannot be used for the entire duration. However, there are some practical solutions for all visitors who still want to take part in the events. On Saturday, July 12th, the large parking lot on Bahnhofstrasse will be used as a shuttle location for trips to the club festival in Graustein from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Alternative parking options and weekly market

Alternative parking spaces for visitors include Töpferstraße, Pfortenplatz, the parking deck on Jägerstraße as well as Georgenstraße and Muskauer Straße. This means you can quickly be on the safe side if you want to go to the festive activities, even if the market square is crowded. And don't worry - the weekly market will take place as usual on Thursday, July 10th, so that local traders and visitors will continue to be well looked after!

New market bus connection to Spremberg

From March 21, 2024, the German Market Guild will be offering a new market bus that will take residents of Graustein and other surrounding places directly to the Spremberg weekly market. A one-way trip costs 1.90 euros and the bus returns after two hours. It is hoped that this offer will revitalize the city center and attract more visitors.

The first two routes of the market bus are as follows:

  • Erste Route: Abfahrt um 8.10 Uhr von Graustein/Syjk mit Haltestellen in Schönheide/Prašyjca, Lieskau/Lěsk, Reuthen und weiteren, Rückfahrt ab Marktplatz um 11 Uhr.
  • Zweite Route: Abfahrt um 9.30 Uhr in Terpe/Terpje an der Haltestelle Kindergarten, Rückfahrt ab Marktplatz um 12 Uhr.

The return journey costs 3.80 euros. The offer will initially be tested for four dates and, if there is sufficient popularity, it could remain in place in the long term.

With these initiatives, Spremberg shows that there is a lot going on and that they have a good knack for revitalizing the city. It will be interesting to see what impact the measures will have in the coming days!
