New start for Guben: Introductory day at the Diakonie hospital was enthusiastic!
Today, October 13, 2025, is a big day for the Naëmi-Wilke-Stift Diakonie Hospital in Guben. The introductory day for new employees took place today, which aims to make it easier for them to get started in their new job. The event opened with a warm breakfast together, which gave the participants, who come from various institutions in the network, the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange ideas. The rector Markus Müller welcomed the new faces and gave exciting insights into the history of the foundation and the structure of the house. The organizational separation of the foundation and the hospital was also explained, as well as the affiliation with the Diakonissenhaus Teltow corporate group, like Niederlausitz Current reported.
Pastor Anne Winkler-Nehls and Pastor Andreas Nehls presented the Teltow Deaconess House and its basic Christian values. A special workshop on ethical guidelines highlighted the diaconal self-image and conveyed values such as responsibility, humanity and faith in everyday professional life. The new employees also had the opportunity to explore the technical systems during a tour of the building with Matthias Reffke, the hospital's technical manager. In addition, topics such as pastoral care, development goals and perspectives within the house were addressed. Another introductory day has already been planned to give other new employees the opportunity to get to know the facility.
A new beginning in Guben
Today's introductory day comes at a time of change for the Guben hospital. On May 1, 2025, the hospital operations and the medical care center (MVZ) will officially become part of the Diakonissenhaus Teltow group of companies. As a result of this change, 350 employees as well as all company land and buildings will be handed over to the newly founded Diakonieklinik Naëmi Wilke Guben gGmbH. These steps are a direct result of the bankruptcy situation that began on September 4, 2024 and mark an important new beginning for the hospital, as Diakonie-Portal reports.
The intensive negotiations with consultants from the self-management company and the administrator have resulted in most employees now finding security. The insolvency expert Dorit Aurich and Rector Markus Müller have worked out plans together to complete the foundation's insolvency proceedings as soon as possible. In addition, the hospital has not only adjusted its range of services in recent years, but has also successfully filled numerous medical positions. All medical departments are now well staffed and operational - this also includes specialized areas such as endoprosthetics and pain therapy.
The commercial director of the Diakonissenhaus Teltow, Lutz Ausserfeld, sees the development as an important expansion of the supply offer in Brandenburg. Mayor Fred Mahro also makes it clear that there is no fear of negative effects for the workforce by maintaining the social welfare tariff. The new Diakonieklinik, together with the MVZ, will thus become a central employer in the region and contribute significantly to the quality of life in Guben.
