Full closure between Kahren and Koppatz: Important changes from October 6th!

From October 6th, residents and commuters between Kahren and Koppatz will be affected by a complete closure. The reason for this is construction work on the Cottbus bypass, which is intended to ensure better transport connections. These changes not only entail restrictions on private transport, but also extensive adjustments to bus transport. Cottbus traffic reports that bus line 33 will have a direct route between Carl-Blechen-Park and Vorpark. This measure is intended to make it easier to reroute buses during construction work.

There are also changes on line 25. The connection is diverted to Kahren at 6:24 a.m. via Neuhausen Nord, Roggosen, L48 and B97n before continuing as bus route 17. The “Kahren Kirche” and “Neuhausener Weg” stops will be canceled during the closure, as will the “Koppatz Hauptstraße” stop, which will be moved forward. There will be no additional stops on the diversion route, which is intended to shorten passengers' travel time.

Special regulations for bus routes

An additional diversion route via Willy-Brandt-Straße is planned for bus line 33, with an additional stop at “Georg-Schlesinger-Straße”. The stops “Dissenchener Straße”, “Hans-Beimler-Straße” and “Warmbad” will also not be served during this time. Single trips on line 33 during the holidays are carried out directly from the main station via the city ring to the “Vorpark” stop. In the afternoon, individual trips run from the Spree-Neiße comprehensive school via Frauendorf directly to Koppatz.

However, the call-to-call bus trips on weekends will be carried out regularly. These journeys will also be redirected to the diversion route via Frauendorf. So if you rely on the bus, you should find out about the new timetables in good time so as not to risk unexpected waiting times.

Construction sites at a glance

The construction work is part of a comprehensive project to improve the transport infrastructure in Cottbus, which is also important in other areas. Cottbus construction sites offers current information and an overview of ongoing work in the city. However, there are currently no reports of any particular types of danger such as slippery winter conditions or snowdrifts, which should ease the general traffic situation somewhat.

Close coordination of construction work and diversions is crucial to ensure that traffic is impacted as little as possible. Traffic delays are still unavoidable. The city appeals to all road users to adapt to the changes and to observe the proposed diversion routes. If you would like to find out about the current traffic situation, you can do so at verkehrslage.de do.

These measures are a step in the right direction to not only relieve the burden on transport users in the Cottbus region, but also to optimize travel times. All those affected are asked to accept the construction work and the associated restrictions and to face the temporary inconveniences with patience.
