Mayoral election in Großbeeren: Five candidates in the race!
The mayoral election is on the agenda in Großbeeren today. On July 6, 2025, the polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while 7,532 eligible voters can make their way to one of the eight polling stations. Voters have the choice between five candidates running for the post of successor to Tobias Borstel, who was voted out in March. He had been in office since 2018 and gave up this position after a referendum without waiting for the result of the vote. Evgeniya Gärtner, previously his deputy, has temporarily taken over the business MAZ reported.

- Bettina Stobbe (Grüne)
- Dirk Steinhausen (WfG)
- Peter Silke (AfD)
- Klaus Meyer (UGDS)
Candidates and election tournament
With around 9,300 residents, Großbeeren has a lively electorate. Among the approximately 1,500 postal voting applications received, there are many votes that are certainly on their way to the polls from their living rooms at home. The RBB highlights that there could be a possible runoff election on July 20th if no candidate achieves the necessary majority of votes.
Voters can be curious to see who will win the race. The MAZ will report live on the counting of votes from 6 p.m. and will therefore be directly on site to deliver the first results.
