Mayoral election in Großbeeren: Who will be the new boss of the municipality?
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the mayoral election will take place in Großbeeren, in which the citizens will elect a new city leader after Tobias Borstel (independent) was voted out. As the MAZ reported, the election date was brought forward after Borstel was voted out of office in a referendum in March. With currently 7,532 people eligible to vote in Großbeeren and a total population of 9,648 (as of April 2024), the community is expecting a lively voter turnout.
Voters can cast their votes at eight polling stations, which are open on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The RBB reports that around 1,500 applications for postal voting have already been received. Postal voters have the opportunity to hand in their ballot at the town hall until 6 p.m. on election Sunday, although a quorum of 15 percent or 1,130 votes is necessary for the election to be valid.
The candidates in the race
Five candidates have been nominated for the upcoming election:

- Peter Silke (AfD)
