Mayor election in Großberries: Who will be the new head of the community?

On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the mayoral election is pending in Großbeeren, in which the citizens choose a new head of the city after the vote of Tobias Borstel (independent). Like the maz reported, the election date was preferred after Borstel was elected by a citizens' decision in March. With currently 7,532 people entitled to vote in Greater Berries and a total population of 9,648 (as of April 2024), the municipality expects a lively turnout.

Voters can vote in eight polling stations that are open on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The rbb reports that around 1,500 applications for the postal vote have already been received. Retting voters have the option of submitting their voting certificate in the town hall until 6 p.m. on election Sunday, with a quorum of 15 percent or 1,130 votes necessary so that the choice is valid.

The candidates in the race

For the upcoming choice, five candidates have been set up:

• Bettina Stobbe (Greens)

• Peter Silke (AfD)
