First Christopher Street Day in Luckenwalde: Diversity celebrates on July 12th!

In the district of Teltow-Fläming, a very special event will be celebrated on July 12, 2025: the first Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Luckenwalde. The motto of the event is "Let it glitter!" And sets a strong sign of diversity and against queer hostility in rural areas. The aim of the event is to offer a platform on which people can stand up for their rights and demonstrate against discrimination. As early as June 25th, a rainbow flag was raised in front of the district house to symbolize the start of the Pride-Month, which stands for a colorful and tolerant society worldwide, but also expresses discrimination against protest. Information about this provides [zossen.de] (https://www.zossen.de/buerger/der-landkreis-informiert-lass-lass-erster-er-christopher-street-day-in-teltow-flaeming-am-12-juli-2025 rain flag-before-demshaus-heisst/).

What is the facing of the diversity in this radiant sign? The demo train begins at 1 p.m. at Luckenwalde train station and moves to the district house. At 3 p.m., the CSD connects with the summer festival of the Luckenwalde E-Werk in Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. Wherever you look, a diverse musical and artistic program is offered on two stages. Live music of all genres and exciting workshops, from karaoke to DJ music in the E-Werk, create a good mood.

diversity through participation

The CSD event is on a voluntary basis by a committed organization team of queer people and allies. The event is supported, among other things, by the equality and integration officer Romy Powils as well as the district children and youth ring Teltow-Fläming e. V. (KKJR). In addition, the funding within the framework of the federal program "Living Democracy!" of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth.

But not only in Luckenwalde is celebrated. The CSD has a tradition in Brandenburg. Other CSDs that take place in 2025 are, for example:

  • ** 31. May: ** CSD in Rheinsberg - Motto: "Dance in the Pride"
  • ** 21. June: ** CSD in Eberswalde - Motto: "We are there, solidarity, colorful and wonderful"
  • ** 5. July: ** CSD in Falkensee - Motto: "Diversity combined!"
  • ** 12. July: ** CSD in Bad Belzig and several other places
  • ** 9. August: ** CSD in Ludwigsfelde

These large, colorful demonstrations show that the CSDs are very popular even in smaller cities and rural areas. maz-online.de has created an overview of the various events.

a piece of history

CSDs are not only celebrated, but also deep in the history of the LGBTQ+movement. The first CSD in Berlin took place in 1979, and the roots go back to the Stonewall riots in 1969 in New York, which marked a turning point in the emancipation of the queer community. The atmosphere during the uprisings was shaped by protests against systematic discrimination and the struggle for equivalent rights. Again and again it is emphasized that despite all progress, the political content and visibility of the community remain important in today's world, as [bpb.de] (https://www.bpb.de/themen/gender-deveraet/homosexualitaet/38838/ History-Schristopher-street-Day/).

So, dear reader: Inside, the CSD in Luckenwalde promises not only to become a feast of diversity, but also an important platform for arguing about equality and against discrimination. Comes numerous and let it glitter!
