On July 1, 2025, a violent forest fire broke out in the Nuthe-Urstromtal near Luckenwalde, affecting an area of ​​​​around 600 square meters in the immediate vicinity of Woltersdorf. The firefighters who were active in this operation came from Luckenwalde, Woltersdorf and Christinendorf. A second forest fire that raged in the Treuenbrietzen region and affected an area of ​​12 to 13 hectares was particularly alarming. The column of smoke from this fire was even visible as far away as Luckenwalde, which illustrates the still high risk of forest fires in the region.

Smaller fires were also reported on Saturday in Baruth, Kablow, Güterfelde and Stahnsdorf.

The risk of forest fires was rated as high to very high throughout Brandenburg that day. Especially in the districts of Märkisch-Oderland, Dahme-Spreewald, Teltow-Fläming and Elbe-Elster, the second highest danger level was 4, while the danger in the rest of the state was significantly lower.
