Antonia: From the wildlife farm to landscape architecture in Uckermark!

In the picturesque Uckermark, about 10 kilometers northeast of Prenzlau, you will find the elk and reindeer farm in Kleptow, which has been run by the Golz family since 1996. Antonia Golz, a 22-year-old veterinary assistant, lives here and grew up with a positive attitude towards the region. Their passion for animals is evident in the wildlife farm, which houses not only moose, but also reindeer, elk, mouflon, fallow deer and even bison.

“The moose are curious and peaceful animals,” she enthuses. Visitors have the opportunity to pet the gentle giants - an experience that many families treasure. The farm is open on weekends from Thursday to Sunday, offers daily tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and is very popular. Admission prices are fair: children up to 14 years of age have free entry when accompanied by an adult, while adults pay 5 euros.

A look behind the scenes

Antonia plans to start studying landscape architecture in Neubrandenburg and would like to continue the family business after graduating. Her father, Thomas Golz, is proud to breed these animals and pass on his knowledge about keeping them. The farm covers around 10 hectares and even offers overnight accommodation in a cozy log cabin that can accommodate up to four people. For 80 euros per night there is also breakfast and an evening tour with animal feeding.

Antonia is not only passionate about animals - she also has a great interest in falconry and is thinking about taking the falconry hunting test. “It’s all very much in our family,” she says. Her brother Marcus, who is a pilot for Condor in Hamburg, visits regularly and supports the family in their activities.

Spend your vacation actively

For all those who want to discover the Uckermark, cycling is one of the most popular leisure activities in the region. The predominantly flat landscape invites you to explore the surroundings without being rushed. E-bikes can be rented in many places, and both leisure and mountain bikers will find ideal conditions here. Cycling can be a relaxed and sporty way to enjoy the beauties of nature. Information about taking bikes on the train is also available, making travel in the region easier.

The moose-rich farm and the opportunity to discover the Uckermark on two wheels offer a perfect backdrop for every adventure. As Antonia Golz says: “There is a lot to discover here, and interest in our homeland is noticeably growing.” The combination of love for animals and active recreation appeals not only to locals, but also to tourists who want to discover the region for themselves.
