Ballet renaissance in Prenzlau: Ellie Ballet” brings top dance to the country
In spring 2025, the new dance school “Ellie Ballet” will see the light of day in Prenzlau. Alessandra Grasso, a passionate ballet trainer and proud mother of four sons, opens her studio in the former conference hall of the Uckermark district crafts association. The dancing here is at a high level and the conditions couldn't be better.
What is particularly noteworthy is that two international ballet stars, Gabriele De Fazio and Teodora Duraç, have been training together with their students from Uckermark since the beginning of the month. Both soloists from the Teatrul Național de Operă și Balet “Oleg Danovski” in Constanța, Romania, are performing in Prenzlau until next weekend. Grasso, who is known for her exceptional teaching, can be particularly proud of this special moment - after all, De Fazio and Duraç are also her son and his girlfriend.
A wide range of dancers
In the “Ellie Ballet” the participants are a colorful mix. From four to over 60 years old – the dance studio attracts people of all ages. Grasso emphasizes the extraordinary commitment of her students, especially in the pointe dance challenge. So it turns out that the fine art of dance is taught and learned here with enthusiasm.
The open day on August 15th promises exciting insights: ballet performances will be offered from 4 p.m., while those interested can take a look behind the scenes of the lessons from 10 a.m. So if you've always wanted to experience the elegance of ballet for yourself, you should mark this date in red on your calendar.
The journey to the opening
Alessandra Grasso's story is an eventful one. After her contract in China ended prematurely during the corona pandemic, she came to Germany. She had previously taught at a renowned ballet school in Egypt, where she was highly respected for her achievements. Now, supported by her own experience, she wants to inspire a new generation of dancers in Prenzlau.
Not only she, but also her sons have dedicated themselves to ballet and have trained at prestigious schools. The move to Germany was a strategic decision for the family after the youngest son's future at his university in Berlin became uncertain.
The opening of “Ellie Ballet” is not only a ray of hope for the local dance scene, but also proof that passion and commitment to ballet is also very popular in the country. With support from TNOB Constanta and the Balletakademie, Grasso shows how complex and dynamic the world of dance can be.
