Boitzenburg's over-40 men triumph 6-1 in the cup final!
What an exciting final in the Cologne stadium! SV Boitzenburg impressively secured the over-40 men's cup and thus completed the double of championship and cup victory. After a consistently strong season with 42 points in the championship, the Boitzenburgers defeated Viktoria Templin 6-1 in the cup final.
In the Templin stadium, which is known as the venue for many exciting encounters, spectators had the opportunity to watch a thrilling duel on half a football field. When referee Jens Röhling kicked off the game, no one had any idea that Boitzenburg would dominate the game. After just 11 minutes, Christian Bock scored the first goal for his team. The Templin goalkeeper Manfred Markhoff had no chance.
The gameplay
The Boitzenburgers were keen on the game from the start and gave Templin little room to develop. With a clear performance, they increased the lead to 2-0 with a penalty from Bock after a Boitzenburger was fouled in the penalty area. Templin, who were hoping for a surprise win, had increasing difficulties in gaining their usual control of the game in this phase of the game.
The second third of the game belonged entirely to the Boitzenburgers, who extended their lead to 4-0 with goals from Daniel Sokolowsky and Gunnar Dittmann. Torsten Cyrol and David Schimmelpfennig also got on the scoresheet and ensured a clear 6-0 lead. Nevertheless, Templin didn't give up: In the last minute, Sandro Drescher scored the consolation goal for his team, which lightened the mood among the Viktoria supporters.
A worthy ending
After the final whistle, Thomas Schwarz presented the trophy to the glorious Boitzenburg players, who had distinguished themselves through their commitment and skills. The line-up of the winners shows the strength of the team: Frank Ortwig, Christian Bock, Thomas Voigt and many other players have truly earned the double.
