Fire in Drense fuels fear of a new fire series - village on alert!

In the quiet Uckermark, an incident causes unrest among the villagers of Drense. On Tuesday afternoon, July 1, around 5 p.m., the fire brigade was alerted when the "Easter fire" on the village pond went up in flames. A resident noticed the blazing flames and immediately informed the emergency services. Fortunately, the volunteer fire brigades from Damme/Drense and Grünow prevented the fire from spreading by using water and extinguishing foam, such as Nordkurier reported.

But the incident not only causes concern, but also evokes painful memories of a dark time in the 1990s. At that time, a “fire devil” devastated the community and set fire to numerous dandruffs, straw warehouses and houses. The village community is now afraid of a new fire series and is alerted about the rising fire volume, especially in view of the current forest fire theater level 4 in the region. The forest fire hazard index (WBI) is a clear warning because it classifies the risk of fires in five stages, whereby level 4 already shows a high danger, as weather danger explains.

Investigations into arson

The police have already started investigations and suspected that this fire may have been caused by arson. This assumption is supported by the region by minor incidents, including ignition sparks on grave lights in the cemetery. Residents are horrified by the behavior of the perpetrators and call for reporting to the police and stopping them. Parents are encouraged to bring their children the serious consequences of such acts.

The concerns in Drense are not unfounded, especially because the fire brigade carried out temperature measurements in this use in order to exclude certain embers. In view of the high risk of forest fires, we have to show all mindfulness to protect the villagers and to prevent the fire series from being erased in this historically important region.

forest fire in Germany

It is interesting that the forest fire hazard index is published by the German Weather Service (DWD) and plays an important role nationwide. The index shows the risk and danger levels for forest fires and serves the authorities to assess the current dangerous situation. The levels range from "very low danger" (1) to "very high danger" (5), the latest data will be delivered once a day at 05:00 UTC, i.e. 07:00 CEST, for the period from March to October, in order to always reflect on the current conditions. This information is extremely important for the local population, as can be found on the website of the DWD DWD.

Overall, it can be hoped that the residents in Drense will quickly receive certainty about the cause of the fire and that the community will be protected by means of a solid education. It is the responsibility of each individual to contribute to safety and be careful in order to preserve the beautiful Uckermark from further fire incidents.
