Halloween in Berlin: Celebrations, scares and large-scale police operations!

On October 31, 2025 it's that time again - the ghosts and ghosts roam the streets! Numerous Halloween events are on the agenda in Berlin and Brandenburg and promise a lot of excitement. From spooky parties to family-friendly offerings, there is something for everyone. The Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg becomes a large party zone with dozens of DJs, where costumes are not only desired, but mandatory. A horror night with monsters, zombies and other scary creatures awaits visitors at the Filmpark Babelsberg in Potsdam. For the little ones, there is a children's theater piece in the Galli Theater in Berlin-Mitte that can be enjoyed by ages 4 and up.

Things get particularly animal-focused at the events held by various dog schools in the area. Here people and dogs can train together on a scary course and have fun. But while some are celebrating, police are preparing for a potentially restless night. On Halloween night, the Berlin police are increasingly deployed with around 700 police officers to prevent violence and riots. Together with a further 750 additional emergency services, the focus is on the city center and certain hot spots. The emergency services are also on the move with undercover investigators to avoid unpleasant surprises, especially in areas that have been conspicuous in recent years, such as Pallasstrasse, Gesundbrunnen and the Park at Humboldthain.

Safety precautions and experiences from previous years

Previous years have shown that Halloween not only attracts children and adults with scary costumes, but also has an increased potential for violence. Last year there were numerous police operations in which around 130 people were temporarily arrested. Attacks, particularly involving pyrotechnics, were also an issue. Police officers and firefighters increasingly suffered when groups - often young people - threw firecrackers and fireworks around themselves.

In light of these developments, the police union expressed concern early on and appealed to the public to spend the evening peacefully and without undue media influence. Police are calling for people to avoid social media challenges to ensure everyone's safety. Don't forget: While children traditionally go from door to door to ask for sweets and risk the occasional cuddle, it can quickly become a nasty surprise for adults when the fun gets out of hand.

Halloween 2025 – a look into the future

As we see, Halloween night 2025 could once again be a test for the Berlin police. This takes note of the developments in the Gaza war, but there is no evidence of an increased risk. Nevertheless, both active measures and the experiences from previous years are in the foreground in order to ensure safety as best as possible. The evening promises to be an exciting but also challenging event for the city. Let us surprise you!

As Berliners prepare to celebrate, the hope remains that every Mischpoke will stick together and the night will be peaceful. A good hand in choosing costumes and a quiet evening - that's what we want for the upcoming Halloween!
