Kita Cup in Prenzlau: Sporting action inspires over 1000 children!

A special event for the little ones took place in Prenzlau: the 19th Kita Cup final, which was announced on November 6, 2025. Over 50 percent of the kindergartens in the district had previously taken part in the regional competitions in Prenzlau, Templin, Angermünde and Schwedt. A total of 50 institutions applied to take part, resulting in 18 teams qualifying for the grand final. Mayor Hendrik Sommer insisted on welcoming the children personally and supporting the event. The event was also supported by Sylvia Konang, the sports youth and other representatives who were on site to motivate the young athletes.

The children showed impressive performances in exciting disciplines, including Bruno Wespa from the Schlumpfhausen Landin daycare center jumping an incredible 1.50 m in the final long jump. His colleague Jessica Wenk from Kita Käthe Kollwitz Templin also put in a strong performance with a jump distance of 1.46 m. The final relay in particular caused a lot of ambition, because everyone wanted to do their best to score points for their team.

The winners of the Kita Cup

The big winner of the 19th Kita Cup was undoubtedly the “Friedrich Fröbel” daycare center from Schwedt, which took first place. The Regenbogen Kita from Schwedt also showed their skills and secured second place, while the Kneipp Kita Lychen was able to boast third place. The joy and proud expression on the children's faces after the event was obvious, as each participant received a Fritzi medal and a T-shirt to commemorate this exciting event. Bruno Eichmann presented the trophy and emphasized the importance of sport for the development of children. The rankings at a glance:

Sylvia Konang also introduced her successor Fabian Eisenecker at this event, which further strengthened the positive spirit of optimism on site.

A similar event recently took place in Döbeln, where the Central Saxony District Sports Association celebrated the conclusion of the 2024 Kita Team Cup series. 84 daycare centers from the region were actively involved here, and exciting sporting disciplines were also held there. Such events show how important it is to give children exercise and fun in sport, which strengthens and promotes them for the rest of their lives. Such funding, such as that provided by Nordkurier, is also being used in Cologne. Blick and KITA is reported, continued.
