Last bakery in Brüssow closes: a loss for the community!

Brüssow, Deutschland - The bakery of Sabine Kuschinski and Nancy Rutzen in Brüssow today closes their doors forever. A painful farewell for the two women who have worked with heart and passion in their small company for many years. Managing Director Jörg Deuse informed Kuschinski by phone about the bankruptcy of the company, a step that was surprisingly for many in the community. "We wanted to work here until retirement," said Rutzen, who saw the bakery not only as a job, but also as an important social meeting point for the village community.

The two women had many loyal customers, including regular customer Hertha F., who regarded the bakery as an indispensable part of their everyday life. Pastor Matthias Gienke and Mayor Torsten Eich visited the bakery to donate comfort. Eich said that the increased cost of living and the increasing competition through a new net market with its own bakery were disadvantageous for sales. "We had to feel the decline in customers," says Kuschinski, who perceives the circumstances as intolerable.

reasons for closure

But what are the factors that have led to this bankruptcy? As the courier reports, many bakeries in the region are fighting with massive difficulties. Inflation has increased raw material costs by 40-50 percent and personnel costs by 20 percent, which is sometimes threatening to exist for many small companies. At the same time, the price increases for products can often not be passed on to customers, which still exacerates the economic situation.

Another example of the difficulties in the industry is the Hubert Auer Betriebsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG, which faces similar challenges. Branches have to conclude due to expiring rental contracts, and failed investments in conversions and extensions have caused additional financial burdens. The company currently has liabilities of over 2.5 million euros and is fighting for a renovation.

A look at the current developments shows that the problems not only affect local bakeries. According to a report by today, larger companies, such as the Bio-Fachwertwert-Bakery Gradwohl, are also affected by bankruptcy. Of a total of 17 locations, 13 branches are to be closed by the end of June. These trends are a clear signal for the entire industry, which is strongly pressed by large supermarket chains.

The future of the bakery in Brüssow

The future remains uncertain for the bakery of Kuschinski and Rutzen. While Rutzen keeps hope that someone will take over the bakery, Kuschinski is planning to run a senior café on a voluntary basis. Mayor Eich started a call on Instagram to collect possible ideas for the use of the shop. However, nobody has reported until July 1, which reveals doubts about a positive turn.

Overall, it should be noted that the closure of the bakery in Brüssow is another example of the difficult situation in the entire bakery industry. The signs are on change, and many entrepreneurs face the challenge of repositioning their business in a changing market environment. The numerous insolvent companies are a call to support local agriculture and small businesses - before it is too late.
