Brave fighters: Mariella and Milane defy serious illnesses!

The Boldt family from Prenzlau faces an enormous challenge. Her oldest child has already lived through tough times, and now the youngest daughter Mariella comes into play. This was diagnosed with leukemia in 2022 and since then was torn out of its usual everyday life. Long therapies are pending that not only strain Mariella, but the entire family. The Kolibri association actively supported the family by providing Mariella at the Philipp Hackert School. So she can take part in the lessons despite the serious illness.

The Mariella youth consecration unfortunately failed, which not only represents an emotional stroke of fate, but also prevented the hoped -for money rain for an iPhone. Her sister Milane has therefore decided to ask the Kolibri association for help for Mariella's wish. This initiative made entrepreneurs Mario rudder of “rowing kitchens” to collect money through a spectacular racing ride of 72 km in 12 hours. As a result, the rudder was able to hand over an iPhone 16 to Milane because Mariella could not participate for health reasons. The gift gave Mariella a lot of fun and brought the family happiness back a little bit. Father Marko Boldt thanked him for the commitment and was proud of his daughters.

Hope for recovery

After four chemotherapy, there is reason for Mariella to hope: The doctors could no longer find cancer cells in their blood. This represents a first bright spot on the way to recovery. It was not only a physical, but also an emotional roller coaster ride for the whole family, which is now preparing to ring a "recover" bell in the Charité. The support and concerns of the parents are in the foreground. According to the information from the Cancer Information Service, it is important that parents do not lose sight of the bureaucratic details in such situations and contact the clinic's social service to get help and advice.

Especially with such shattering diagnoses, emotional support from the family is crucial. In many children's oncological centers, such as the Kitz in Heidelberg, programs are offered that help the affected children and their siblings maintain their everyday life despite the difficult circumstances. These include scope for sick children and childcare offers for healthy siblings. Music therapy offers are also part of the support and contribute to a positive atmosphere. Parents can find out more about financial opportunities, such as child care health benefit while taking care of their little "fighters".

emotional stress

cancer is not only a medical challenge, but also an immense emotional burden for the whole family. It is recommended to speak openly about the disease so that children do not fill the information with their own fears and fantasies. Information from experts and supporting institutions help to make it easier to deal with the disease. It is important that parents involve their children in the treatment process and give them a feeling of normality. Even if the treatment may seem threatening, it is crucial that parents remain courageous and loving.

In Germany, around 2,000 children develop cancer annually, but the healing rate is high in four out of five children affected. Despite all the challenges, children show an admired fighting spirit and the unconditional will to get healthy. The support of relatives and the exchange with other families can represent valuable resources in dealing with the disease.

family Boldt is on the right track, and strengthening through their community and supporting clubs has an effect. It is to be hoped that Mariella will soon be completely recovered and that the family can devote itself to their usual rhythm of life.
