New Investment Advisory Board: Billions for MV should strengthen the local economy!

Today is an important day for the economy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. After intensive discussions with the chambers and associations, Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced the establishment of a new investment advisory board. This committee is intended to ensure that funds from the nationwide special fund flow primarily to regional companies. The investment advisory board will consist of representatives of the state government and business representatives and has the clear goal of giving preference to local companies for orders. In total, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will receive 1.92 billion euros over the next twelve years, which amounts to around 160 million euros annually Uckermark courier.

But what is behind these impressive numbers? In March 2025, the federal government created a special fund worth over 500 billion euros to enable targeted investments in infrastructure and achieve climate neutrality by 2045. This is intended to address particular deficiencies that have arisen as a result of years of under-investment. After all, broken roads and dilapidated bridges are no longer uncommon. The total amount of 100 billion euros for states and municipalities shows how seriously the situation is taken, as shown in the diagram federalgovernment.de can be seen.

The investment summit in Schwerin

A central aspect of the future distribution of funds are the investment summits that are to take place in Schwerin. District administrators, mayors and representatives from business and trade unions come together here to set priorities and use resources sensibly. The renovation of schools is at the top of the list, followed by investments in daycare centers, sports facilities and port infrastructure. The daily news reports that the municipalities insist that around two thirds of the money must flow quickly and unbureaucratically to the municipal level in order to save every second and make rapid progress with the projects.

The Association of Business Associations MV has also campaigned for the summit format and is calling for long-term strategies that also keep an eye on the easy implementation of the funding. Ultimately, these funds should not just exist on paper, but should quickly benefit those affected locally.

A look into the future

Those responsible in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are looking to the coming years with big plans and hopes. The money from the special fund is not only a financial ray of hope, but also a sign that the federal and state governments are actively working on modernizing the infrastructure. We work together towards future-oriented funding and the upswing of the regional economy.

If politicians have a good hand and the planned investments in education, digitalization and infrastructure are implemented quickly and effectively, nothing will stand in the way of positive development in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The time for action is now!
