Serious traffic accident on B111: Two injured people fight for their lives!

A serious traffic accident occurred today on the B111 in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, in which two people were seriously injured. According to Nordkurier, an incorrect turn by a vehicle in front led to the catastrophe. The driver behind him recognized the situation too late, applied the brakes abruptly and lost control of his car. There was a serious head-on collision with another vehicle.

The force of the impact was devastating. One driver suffered life-threatening injuries and the other was seriously injured. In addition, two occupants of another vehicle suffered minor injuries. In order to carry out the rescue and recovery work, the federal highway was closed for four hours.

Rescue measures and road safety

The accident is a reminder of how important it is to remain calm when the lights are flashing and the siren is sounding. The NDR recommends showing caution in such situations and avoiding abrupt evasive or braking maneuvers in order not to endanger other road users. These can include basic rules of conduct such as using the turn signal and reducing speed. Even within built-up areas, road users are allowed to use cycle or pedestrian paths in tight situations.

The importance of conscious driving is also supported by current statistics. In 2024, the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) registered over 3.8 million traffic offenses. The most common offense is speeding. Men and women are affected almost equally, but the number of men committing such offenses is significantly higher, as the KBA statistics shows.

The incident was a stark reminder that road safety depends not only on the drivers themselves, but also on the collective behavior of all road users. A better understanding of such situations could potentially prevent future accidents and help raise awareness of safe driving practices.
