Pure excitement: Who will be the winner of the international drawing competition?

The 58th Flow International Drawing Competition is just around the corner in Schwedt and the excitement is building! It is considered a platform for children and young people from all over the world to live out their creative streak in painting, drawing and digital art. This year, the organizers can look back on a record participation of 2,538 entries from 22 countries, as reported by nordkurier.de. For the first time, works from Great Britain are also among the submissions. The diversity ranges from Europe to China and Taiwan to Indonesia, Canada and Iran.

What is particularly impressive is that Germany is also well represented: 1,976 works came from the country, including 527 from Schwedt and 226 from the Uckermark district. Even kindergartens and schools from Prenzlau and Templin can be involved in this creative competition. The jury, consisting of international artists, will not only select the prize winners from the numerous creative contributions, but also select 710 works for an exhibition.

Exhibition and award ceremony

The exciting results can be admired from September 17th in the foyer of the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt, where the exhibition will be on view until October 1st. Opening hours are Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. School classes and daycare groups are warmly invited to register their visits. The award ceremony will take place during the opening event, at which the district administrator of Uckermark and the mayor of Prenzlau will also award prizes.

The competition has a long history, dating back to the 1960s, when children from a painting and drawing group launched this initiative. Today the competition is organized by the city of Schwedt and receives support from the district and private donors. It is important that the implementation of the competition relies on the help of volunteers who give the event its lively atmosphere.

Promote creativity

Art competitions like Flow are not only an opportunity for children and young people to present their artwork, but also a chance to promote their talents and find out what they have on their minds artistically. There are many initiatives around the world that encourage young artists to express themselves artistically - be it in the “Digital Art” category or through other creative formats. Various competitions create spaces to address topics ranging from environmental awareness to human rights and offer young people the opportunity to raise their voices and be creative, as described by the platform format.com, among others.

The 58th Flow International Drawing Competition impressively shows how art overcomes differences and promotes a creative community. Who knows, maybe the next big idea will be born among the young artists' pencils and brushes!
