Templin invites you: Help shape the community forest!

Something is happening in Templin! The local urban forest, which covers around 3,500 hectares, relies on sustainable management and would like to open itself up more to citizens. Again Northern Courier reports, the aim is to increasingly develop the forest as a community forest where the population is actively involved. This is important not only for the economic aspects, but also for nature conservation and the recreational functions that the forest offers.

As part of this initiative, an information event will take place on September 12th, to which all interested parties are cordially invited. From 3:30 p.m., forester Hans-Lennard Vöcks will give insights into the work of the city forestry team at the railway crossing to Schwarzen Weg, near Prenzlauer Allee. Topics range from tree removal to sustainable forestry practices. The aim is to conduct an open dialogue with citizens in order to collect their questions and ideas.

An ecologically valuable environment

Templin's city forest has both economic and ecological significance. This is documented by several nature reserves (608 hectares) and FFH areas (1290 hectares). Loud templin.de Endangered bird species such as sea eagles, ospreys and black storks breed here and find a protected habitat despite the heavy visitor traffic. The natural isolation of certain forest areas helps these species continue to thrive.

The recovery of citizens is also very important. In areas close to the city, recreational use takes priority over timber harvesting. The hiking and cycling trails that lead through the city forest as well as along the impressive lake landscapes are particularly attractive. The design of the forest places great emphasis on preserving the beauty of nature while providing visitors with an excellent experience.

Sustainability in focus

In the context of sustainable forest management, the publication shows BfN that Germany is well on the way to reconciling ecological and economic goals. The study is dedicated to analyzing current forest use and developing concepts for sustainable use to promote biological diversity.

Whether for nature lovers, those seeking relaxation or those interested in sustainable practices - the Templin city forest offers numerous opportunities to actively and sustainably immerse themselves in nature. Citizen participation is an important step in this process, and the upcoming events offer a platform to work together on the design of forest landscapes.
