Templiner Therme: Volunteer day and major renovations are coming!

In Templin, the NaturTherme provides exercise! The first volunteer day will take place here on September 14th, when the committed citizens of this city will be rewarded for their tireless efforts with a free visit to the thermal baths. A big thank you for all the helping hands that enrich social interaction. But soon after this special day, the thermal baths will be closed for a while - namely from September 15th to 28th. The reason for this is the annual maintenance and care work, which will be particularly extensive this year. All areas, including the brine pool, the sauna and the wellness area, will therefore not be accessible. The popular indoor playground Ottis Spielewelt and the cozy summer terrace are also affected, as nothing can be left to chance here.

Again Uckermark courier reported that during the closure not only will work be done on the heating and ventilation in the basement, but also tile repair work will be carried out. The catering area will also receive a second freezer cell to ensure that culinary delights can continue to be catered for in the future. All of this is happening as part of a comprehensive energy transformation that aims to make the thermal baths future-proof.

Sustainable changes: From parking spaces to solar power plants

Another exciting project is coming up in Templin. The NaturTherme parking lot will not only be converted, but will also be transformed into an energy-efficient solar power plant. With the start of construction work on Monday, the vision of sustainably supporting the thermal baths has come within reach. In the future, 2,096 new solar modules will be installed, which will feed 100% of the electricity generated directly into the thermal baths. Loud Northern Courier Around 37% of the annual electricity consumption, which is around 2.4 million kWh, will be generated from this new solar system.

But that's not all: excess energy produced in summer is converted into heat using power-to-heat technology. The current construction schedule not only stipulates that the work will be carried out in three phases in order to best maintain parking space capacity, but also that 144 new trees, including 40 apple trees, will be planted to compensate for the tree clearance. This investment of around 3.5 million euros is a step in the right direction to reduce fossil fuels and actively promote the energy transition.

A look into the future

In addition, a gas-powered combined heat and power plant (CHP) will be built, which, together with the photovoltaic system, will cover 90% of the thermal spa's total electricity requirements. These sustainable measures are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026. With funding totaling 3.13 million euros from a special program to improve the regional economic structure, the transformation of the NaturTherme is not only financially supported, but also shows how important the switch to renewable energy sources is for the region.

Such projects are not only a benefit for individuals, but also a sincere contribution to environmental protection and the energy transition. Anyone interested in becoming active in this area can volunteer for renewable energies. This not only offers the opportunity to exchange knowledge about different energy sources, but also to make an active contribution to climate protection, like this Rainbow Garden Village emphasized. Promoting renewable energies in private households and companies is a sensible step into the future.

It will be exciting to see how the NaturTherme and its surroundings will develop in the coming months. What is certain is that the plans are promising and the anticipation for the volunteer day and the reopened rooms is already increasing.
