Important city council meetings: rent index and daycare center demolition are coming up!

The city of Prenzlau is facing exciting meetings next week. The Committee for Economy, City and District Development will meet on November 11th to discuss, among other things, the draft rent index for 2026. The costs of the demolition work, particularly of the former daycare center in Seelübbe, are also on the agenda. Building authority manager Christine Walther will inform those present about the current status of the construction work. Nordkurier reports that the bidding discussions with interested companies are already underway, so construction should start soon after the contract is awarded.

Another important matter concerns road closures during construction work. The city is optimistic that these can be minimized. It is also important to her to communicate traffic regulations promptly and transparently in order to make everyday life easier for commuters and residents.

Education and culture in focus

The meeting of the Committee for Education, Culture and Social Affairs will take place on November 12th. The situation in the “Glashaus” is on the agenda here, and the Kulturwerk Prenzlau e.V. association is introduced. Changes to the fee regulations for sports halls and sports fields are also being discussed. A look back at the season in the Prenzlauer Seebad and the current situation at Kita Friendship rounds off the list of topics.

The Finance Committee will then meet on November 13th. The previous day's topics will be taken up again here, and district forester Jens Rackelmann will present the economic results of the municipal forestry facilities. A new version of the city's auditing regulations is also on the agenda.

Citizen participation and inquiries

All meetings take place at 5 p.m. in meeting room 203 in the town hall at Steintor 4. Residents have the opportunity to address their questions directly to the administration and city council, which makes an important contribution to citizen participation.

At a time when new rent indexes are pending, citizens have the chance to find out about their rights and developments in the city. The rent index, which is offered in Berlin as a guide for tenants and landlords, could also serve as a model for Prenzlau. It offers an overview of local rental prices and helps to check rent increases. Although the information on this is not legally binding, it is very helpful for everyone involved. Berlin.de informs about the details.

With an extensive program and a variety of topics up for discussion, one can look forward to the results of the upcoming meetings. Things remain exciting in Prenzlau!
