On August 16, 2025, a strange incident occurred in Neubrandenburg that began in the Fohlenwinkel district. Again Northern Courier reported that a 54-year-old driver of a VW wanted to turn left onto Traberallee around 11:30 a.m. But she ran into the path of a cyclist who stopped from the sidewalk in the opposite direction of travel and turned into Fohlenwinkel. The cyclist was hit by the side of the car and fell.
After the accident, the cyclist appeared extremely aggressive. He insulted the driver and kicked the car door, shattering the side window. Instead of clarifying the matter, he fled the scene of the accident, the police said. It remains unclear whether the cyclist was injured in the fall. The officers are now investigating accidents, insults, property damage and traffic violations.

But that wasn't the only accident that made headlines that day. Another incident on the L35 near Podewall also caused a stir. Here, a 36-year-old Skoda driver was blinded by the low sun and collided with the outside mirror of a 62-year-old cyclist, causing him to fall. The cyclist had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries.
This means great financial damage for the Skoda driver. He caused around €4,000 in damage and his vehicle had to be towed away. In this case, too, a police investigation is ongoing into negligent bodily harm and a violation of road traffic regulations.
