First Italian for FC Energie Cottbus: Simon Straudi changes!

Simon Straudi, a talented professional soccer player from South Tyrol, has taken on an exciting new challenge. He is moving from Austria to Germany and is now strengthening FC Energie Cottbus in the third league. This reports Sports News. A remarkable step for the 26-year-old, who was most recently under contract with Austrian Bundesliga club Austria Klagenfurt.

After his contract with Klagenfurt ended in July 2025, Straudi initially found himself looking for a new club after making 26 appearances last season but not receiving a contract extension. However, he quickly fought for a place in Cottbus and has been training with his new team for a week. Coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz and squad planner Maniyel Nergiz are very impressed with the Italian and see him as a valuable reinforcement for the right wing.

A pioneer in Cottbus
