Although the global rate for incorrectly treated luggage has dropped by 63% since 2007 and fell to less than 7 per 1,000 passengers in 2024, there is still an increase in delays and losses due to the rapid growth of air traffic. regional luggage losses and airports with the highest loss rates
In 2022, a total of 10.6 million luggage was lost in 2022, while North America recorded 5.8 million and the Asia-Pacific region 3.0 million missing luggage. These numbers prove the challenges with which European travelers are particularly confronted.
The airports with the highest loss rates are in particular Juárez Airport in Mexico City with 2.1%, London City Airport with 1.62%and London Gatwick with 1.58%.
