World Environment Day: Cleaning in Frankfurt (Oder) - Take part!
Europaplatz 1, 15230 Frankfurt (Oder), Deutschland - On June 5, 2025, a large number of events take place at the Viadrina University in Frankfurt (Oder) that underline the commitment of the students and the research of the university. On this day, the Cultural Studies Council organizes an environmental cleaning campaign together with university groups such as Unicef and Students for Climate Justice. This begins at 4 p.m. in the foyer of the Countess Dönhoff building before continuing to the island of Ziegenwerder. The participants can look forward to provided materials such as garbage bags and gloves that support the action.
In addition to this initiative, an online consultation for the KIU Research Fellowships will be offered on Tuesday, June 10th. The Competence Association Interdisciplinary Ukraine Studies Frankfurt (Oder) -Berlin (KIU) organizes this information event at 2.30 p.m. via Zoom to inform interested students about the application modalities and periods for the winter semester 2025.academic events
June 10th brings another academic event. At 6:15 p.m. there will be a research colloquium with Dr. Elisabeth Heigl from the University of Greifswald. Her lecture is entitled "Alimenting strategies for the universities in Greifswald and Königsberg (16th and 17th centuries)" and is held in the Logenhaus, Logenstraße 11, room 101/102.
On Wednesday, June 11th, the university expects an exciting panel discussion that deals with "memories of the turn and their (non-) aftermath". In this round, Jens Beige, Dr. Krzysztof Wojciechowski and Oliver Barth talk about their experiences, moderated by Dr. Mark Keck-Szajbel, with simultaneous interpretation into Polish.
As part of the same day, a book presentation on Dr. Marija Grujić's work "Belonging in Unhomely Homelands" takes place, followed by a film screening of the film "Wicked: Part I" at 6:00 p.m. in the Gräfin-Dönhoff building, lecture hall 06.

On Thursday, June 12th, the university invites you to say goodbye to the topic "Suggestive issues in criminal proceedings - allowed or forbidden?" One, held by Prof. Dr. Michael Soiné. The lecture takes place in the Senate Hall, room 109,
A special cultural highlight is the Theater Festival Unithea, which is organized from Friday, June 13th to Saturday, June 14th. Students of the Viadrina stage topics about passion and emotions in different locations in the double town of Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice.

In the current exhibition "Mod-Block-DDR", the GDR will be informed of the GDR on the end of August 2025 about modernization blocks in business and science. The hiking exhibition "Kant & Königsberg" can also be visited, which deals with the connections between Immanuel Kant and his hometown from April 8. There is also the exhibition "Some goods neighbors", which deals with the Holocaust and the role of ordinary people, which is accessible by December 30, 2025.
For interested parties in the Oder River landscape, the exhibition "Oder-Los" presents photographs by Oleksandra Bienert by June 13, which are also shown in the Gräfin-Dönhoff building.
