Burglary in Neukloster: warehouse ransacked, burning car discovered!
On the night of Sunday, October 26, 2025, there was a break-in at a shipping service provider in Neukloster, in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg. According to [NDR](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/westmecklenburg/einbruch-bei-versanddienste-in-neukloster,mvregio Schwerin-1778.html), the police discovered around 2:30 a.m. that a door had been broken open and several office rooms and a warehouse had been ransacked. Investigators cannot yet confirm whether anything was stolen. At the same time, a burning car was reported nearby shortly after the incident.
The fire brigade from Neukloster and Glasin were quickly on site and were able to extinguish the burning vehicle. The car was parked with the hazard lights on, but the owner could not be found. It is suspected that the car is one that was previously stolen from the shipping company's premises. The estimated material damage amounts to around 22,000 euros.
Details about the break-in and the investigation
As stern.de reports, both a gate and a door were forcibly opened during the break-in to gain access to the premises. The police have already started investigations and are looking for witnesses who may be able to provide information about the perpetrators or the burning vehicle.
A collapse like this is another indication of a worrying trend. In 2023, there were around 119,000 burglaries nationwide, including 77,800 residential burglaries, as Statista states. Although the numbers are slightly lower than in the years before the pandemic, many citizens' sense of security remains impaired.
Urban regions in particular continue to face the highest burglary rates. While the clearance rate for residential burglaries in Germany is 14.9 percent, it is highest in Bavaria at 25.8 percent. Most suspects are increasingly coming from abroad, which poses additional challenges for the police.
In this context, the police call on people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The break-in in Neukloster shows once again how important good neighbors and attention within the community are in countering such crimes.
