Driving school car under attack! Hunter's shot hits vehicle on B104
On Wednesday evening there was an unusual and disturbing incident on the B104 between Cambs and Brahlstorf in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: a driving school car was hit by a projectile from a hunting weapon. Fortunately, everyone involved was uninjured. There was a 61-year-old driving instructor and his 19-year-old student driver in the vehicle. The loud bang that announced the hit made both of them jump. The projectile got stuck in the right rear door of the car, but did not penetrate inside, as NDR reports.
The police found the 21-year-old hunter in an adjacent field and discovered that he had previously fired two shots at a roebuck. The second shot that hit the car came after the hunter had only grazed the animal and the driving school car was about 200 meters away. The hunter is now being investigated for negligent, dangerous interference with road traffic. Further information on the extent of the damage is not currently available, which is remarkable when compared to the current traffic incident statistics recorded in the Fitness to Drive Register (FAER).
Road safety always in focus
As the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt shows, traffic irregularities are a constant issue. In 2024, over 238,000 crimes were recorded that endangered road safety. This also includes accidents and irresponsible driving. It turns out that not only road traffic itself, but also the safety precautions necessary around the roads are of utmost importance. Every incident, even one as unfortunate as the one with the driving school car, reminds us of the importance of acting responsibly.
The incident in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania may seem bizarre, but it raises a serious question: How safe are we really on the roads when unforeseen factors like hunting bullets come into play? This incident could serve as a wake-up call to keep your eyes open and be aware of the potential dangers in everyday life.
As the investigation continues, the driving school and police remain optimistic. A fortunate circumstance is that no one was injured. However, the responsible use of hunting law remains an important issue that should also be reconsidered when it comes to hunting.
