Gadebusch dances and celebrates: experience 800 years of history!
Gadebusch, a charming town in the northwest Mecklenburg district, is celebrating a major anniversary this year: 800 years - a reason to celebrate! The celebrations started on Friday evening with a musical night in the old town, which put visitors in a festive mood. The first evening concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display over Lake Burgsee, which lit up the night, as [NDR](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/westmecklenburg/gadebusch- Feiert-sein-800-jaehriges-jubilaeum,mvregioSchwerin-282.html) reports.
The focus of this anniversary is on preserving traditions and promoting a sense of community. Mayor Arne Schlien called on citizens, clubs, businesses and institutions in Gadebusch to take an active part in the festival. Numerous creative ideas and activities are planned to make the anniversary an unforgettable experience. Gadebusch is one of the three oldest cities in Mecklenburg and received the “Lübische Stadtrecht” as early as 1225, as the city itself explains on its website Gadebusch.de.
