Cleanliness and safety: survey reveals differences in the district!
A comprehensive survey on cleanliness and safety was recently carried out in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, in which a total of 16,664 citizens took part. The results provide a deep insight into the perception of quality of life in the region: the average cleanliness rating is a solid 7.43 points on a scale of 1 to 10. Safety, on the other hand, is only rated at 6.3, which indicates a certain imbalance in perceptions. The survey results were from Northern Courier published.
The local population sometimes expressed different opinions about the different cities in the district. While Brüel does well with a cleanliness rating of 7.61 and a safety rating of 7.55, things are significantly different in Hagenow. Here the values fall to 6.08 for cleanliness and only 5.6 for the feeling of security. The evaluation and criticism was particularly negative in Möllenbeck, where cleanliness was 5.94 and safety was only 4.88.
Differences between cities
A look at the ratings shows how different perceptions are in the cities:
| City | cleanliness | Security |
|---|---|---|
| Hagenow | 6.08 | 5.6 |
| Bruel | 7.61 | 7.55 |
| Wittenburg | 7.05 | 5.83 |
| Sternberg | 6.83 | 6.58 |
| Karstadt | 6.76 | 6.76 |
| Möllenbeck | 5.94 | 4.88 |
| Malliß | 8.72 | – |
There are specific points of criticism in the various cities: In Brüel, the dilapidation of empty houses is criticized, while in Wittenburg the cleanliness of recycling containers leaves something to be desired. Sternberg faces unpleasant results, with stickers and graffiti from Hansa Rostock fans as well as dog fouling cited as problems. These anomalies show that it is time to take action in various places.
Cleanliness in Selsingen
The results from the municipality of Selsingen are particularly interesting, where participants in the Heimat-Check survey rate the cleanliness as excellent. This is not least because the municipality only cleans the gutters on the dangerous B 71 and leaves the responsibility for cleanliness primarily to the residents. However, they are committed and look after their surroundings with commendable effort. The village atmosphere in Selsingen and the citizens' awareness of the cleanliness of their own front door create a positive overall picture, such as Zevener newspaper reported.
Looking back, the 7th coordinated survey on quality of life in German cities, which took place in autumn 2024, shows that satisfaction with cleanliness and safety depends heavily on the respective municipality. Cities like Aachen and Munich, which were surveyed in similar surveys, show how important these topics are for citizens' attitude to life. The results of the last survey are on the website urban statistics available.
