Wismar is investing 44 million: education, car gifts and cruise!

Wismar, Deutschland - Developments in Wismar and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are currently diverse and exciting. On June 20, 2025, several important projects and initiatives will be reported that enrich life on site and strengthen the community.

Yesterday over 1.1 million euros in money requirements were distributed to non-profit facilities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Among the top recipients is the Wismar traffic watch, which has received 26,800 euros for their valuable work. The aim of the traffic guard is to increase awareness of safety in road traffic and reduce the number of accidents. It organizes prevention courses for children and seniors and has a wide range of training courses for car, motorcyclists and pedestrians to promote a positive traffic culture. The traffic guard acts as part of a Germany -wide network and is led by Klaus R. Schmidt, while Fanni Lorenz takes over the management.

education and infrastructure: a new milestone in Wismar

Another important project is the planned construction of a new Baltic Sea school in Wismar, which is to replace the existing regional Baltic Sea school. With an estimated cost of 44 million euros, the goal is to improve educational offers and to expand the capacity. The fundamental decision for this will be taken on June 26, which increases the anticipation and interest of the citizens: further increases.

At the same time, the commitment of the Thomas Agerholm Foundation comes into play, which gives away a wheelchair -friendly car worth around 70,000 euros to an association. This initiative not only shows the spirit of charity, but also gives clubs in and around Wismar the chance to apply for the vehicle to use it for its tasks.

cruise business: an economic engine for the region

The cruise business in Wismar blooms and contributes significantly to the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania economy. A turnover of 500 million euros is generated annually, which secures 2800 jobs, including employees in shipping companies and shipyards. Expansion plans for the ports in the region are also in progress to make room for larger and more luxurious ships.

As part of the MV tag in Greifswald, from June 20th to 22nd, Schwerin and the districts of Northwest Mecklenburg and Ludwigslust-Parchim present themselves under the motto #bestmecklenburg. Here the attractiveness of the region is emphasized, especially by creative actions for children.

The events are rounded off by the funeral service for the important contemporary artist Günther Uecker, which takes place on July 5th in the Schwerin Cathedral. Uecker, who was known for his unique "nail images", leaves an imperishable heritage in the art scene and especially in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Overall, it can be seen that many positive impulses are set in the region, especially in the field of education, traffic safety and economy. Any commitment and initiative help to enrich life on site and to strengthen the community.
