19-year-old hits a tree: seriously injured after a spectacular accident!
A serious traffic accident occurred in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the late afternoon of July 23, 2025. A 19-year-old lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons, left the road and crashed into a tree. As a result, the car overturned and came to rest on its roof. The driver had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the road was completely closed throughout the operation stern.de reported.
Unfortunately, accidents like this are not an isolated incident. A current study by ADAC Accident Research shows that young drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 are involved in traffic accidents at an above-average rate. They cause twice as many accidents as older road users. Particularly alarming: A whopping 29 percent of accidents involving young drivers are solo accidents, compared to 18 percent for older drivers. The most common triggers are often excessive speed, lack of driving experience and involuntary departure from the road adac.de.
The dangers for young drivers
As ADAC accident research shows, 76 percent of accidents involving young drivers occur outside built-up areas, mostly on country or federal roads. In addition, young drivers are statistically less likely to wear a seatbelt - 5.2 percent of the time compared to 4 percent for older drivers. This lack of attention means that occupants who are not wearing seatbelts can suffer serious injuries.
However, the trend shows a positive development. The number of young drivers involved in accidents has fallen in recent years. This could be related to various measures such as “accompanied driving from the age of 17” and an absolute ban on alcohol for novice drivers. At the same time, the vehicle fleet has become younger and the mobility behavior of young drivers has changed.
It remains to be hoped that tragic events such as the 19-year-old's accident will not only remain isolated cases, but will encourage many young people to act more responsibly in traffic.
