First nude hiking trail in MV: nature experience without clothes at Lake Rätzsee!

A new trend has emerged in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: nude hiking! On September 27, 2025, the third official nude hiking trail in Germany was ceremoniously opened at the FKK campsite Rätzsee. On this day, the weather conditions were not entirely convincing, as the temperatures were well below expectations at 12 degrees. Nevertheless, numerous interested people flocked to the opening, where greetings were given by Enrico Hackbarth from the Kleinseenplatte office and the chairwoman of GetNakedGermany, Jeannette Langner. The latter highlighted that nude hiking offers a more intense nature experience and has been a popular activity since the beginnings of nudist culture. The path itself is around three kilometers long and runs in a circular route that can also be used by clothed guests.

The circular hiking trail is one of only three approved naturist routes in Germany. This is a big step for the Wustrow region and the community there, which has implemented the path in voluntary cooperation. The group's commitment to village development and tourism in Wustrow, which played a key role in the coordination with the Mirow Forestry Office, is particularly commendable. The mayor and the municipality of Drosedow also supported the project. Around 3,000 euros were invested in the necessary information and path markings - money that comes from the spa tax and therefore benefits the general public.

Naked wall experience and legal framework

Nude hiking, also known as naturist hiking, is becoming increasingly popular. According to wander.co, special trails offer more legal certainty, but also meet with open ears from campsite visitors: The installation of signs along the new trail informs clothed hikers that they could possibly encounter naked hikers. Interestingly, the first nude hiking trail in Germany was opened in the Harz in 2010, followed by another in the Lüneburg Heath in 2012.

Naked hiking is not prohibited in Germany, even if many trails are not officially signposted. Studies show that an increasing number of naturists value experiences that go far beyond just hiking. This type of hiking not only means freedom, but also a deep connection to nature. Tips from more experienced hikers include hiking in warm, dry weather, packing plenty of sunscreen and water, and being kind and respectful to others.
