A sonorous return: Priepert village church starts the Hour of Music”!
After a long cultural dry spell of ten months, the Priepert village church will soon be performing musically again. The popular “Hour of Music” concert series begins on Friday, June 27, 2025, and promises an exciting program that will make music lovers’ hearts beat faster. How Strelitzius reports, this is the 11th season in which various musicians will perform on site every Friday at 7 p.m.
The opening concert is something special: Prof. Andrei Gorbachev, known from the balalaika world, will ring in the series for the fourth year in a row with an energetic concert. And the program also offers a colorful mix, including a performance by Anna Carewe and Oli Bott, who present “Music without Borders” with their sounds. Stefan Keil will also interpret Éviter's legendary ballads by Neil Young to properly celebrate his 80th birthday.
A diverse musical offering
If you don't like classical music much, you can look forward to a premiere: For the first time, love songs from 100 years of musical history will be performed, with hits from “My Fair Lady”, “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats”. The Ukrainian accordion duo “Elena & Ruslan Kratschkowski” will also provide sounds from Russia and Yiddish klezmer. The “Duo finesco”, which presents flamenco, and the harmonica trio “Animato” from Szczecin complement the diverse offering. The “Orbis Quartet” also comes from Berlin and will impress with a singing string quartet.
Another highlight is on the program with the performance of the Klehshenko family of musicians from Karelia at the end of the season. They bring people together with folk music and classical compositions, which underlines the charm of this series. In addition, the concerts are free, which promotes access to cultural education for the benefit of all. Donations will be requested at the end of the events to ensure the continuation of this traditional series.
A popular event with a great response
The event is very popular and attracts many visitors to the church year after year. The number of guests expected is even 6,000 Northern Courier reported. The Neustrelitz women's choir “Freundschaft” will also present its summer concert this season, which underlines the commitment of local artists and contributes to the community.
Festivals like this, which cover a wide range of musical genres and take place in church spaces, reflect the trend in Germany to combine musical culture with spiritual space. The German Music Information Center emphasizes that such concerts often stand out due to their international orientation and thematic focus, which guarantees the audience a unique experience.
So when the “Hour of Music” begins in the Priepert village church, you can look forward to cultural highlights that will enrich the village and its surroundings. A good reason to keep your time free and enjoy music in all its facets!
