New stars for Lower Saxony: Culinary high enjoyment 2025 unveiled!
Frankfurt am Main, Deutschland - On June 18, 2025, the new Michelin guide for Germany was presented in the graceful social center of Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main. This year the gourmets among us can look forward to a new record: a total of 341 restaurants have been awarded a Michelin star, which means an increase in a star compared to the previous year. It is particularly gratifying for the Cologne and all gourmets that the North German gourmet landscape also triumphs.
In the northern Germany, three restaurants with the highest award, the coveted three stars, were considered. The new "Restaurant Haerlin" in Hamburg now in the league of the top chefs, while "The Table Kevin Fehling" and the "Aqua" in Wolfsburg were also able to defend this award. The award is an absolute highlight for gastronomy and testifies to a lot of dedication and innovative concepts.
The culinary scene in Frankfurt and the surrounding area
Frankfurt not only stands for banks and business, but also develops more and more as a culinary center. Among the five new star restaurants, the “Sommerfeld” in the Bahnhofsviertel quickly caused a stir and received a Michelin star straight away. Chef Daniel Pletsch and his twin brother Tobias can be proud of their leadership of the successor to the one-star restaurant Weinsinn. The Yaldy in Moselstrasse was also awarded - for this there was the newly introduced "Cocktail Award".
Hessen has a total of 18 star restaurants, including the renowned two-star restaurant "Lafleur". A total of seven Frankfurt restaurants in Hesse shine with a Michelin star, such as "Carmelo Greco" and "Main Tower".
Development in the rest of Germany
In Germany there are now 12 three-star restaurants, 47 two-star restaurants and 282 one-star restaurants. But it is not only celebrated in Frankfurt; Gastronomy also blooms in Lower Saxony. The restaurants "Jante" and "Votum" in Hanover were awarded two stars, while the new one-star restaurant "Marie" and the "Joseph’s Fine Dining" in Bad Sachsa are also economically well positioned and promote enjoyment in the region.
However,A challenge remains: 30 restaurants received a star for the first time, while 33 lost their awards due to closings or changes of concept. On the positive side, 80 German restaurants now show the so -called "green star", which rewardes sustainable concepts - and 14 of them are innovations this year. Gwendal Pullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, described Germany as a gastronomic Powerhouse.
