Neustrelitz triumphs in the district cup final: 2-1 against Malchin!

In the final of the district cup of the Mecklenburg Lake District Football Association on June 21, 2025 there was a thrilling duel between TSG Neustrelitz and FSV Malchin. The game took place on the Tutower sports field and attracted around 60 spectators who enjoyed an exciting game. How Northern Courier reported, TSG Neustrelitz emerged from the game with a 2-1 win and thus secured the cup.

In the first half the game was pretty evenly matched and both teams failed to put the ball in the net. After the break, however, the game picked up speed. Alexander Kurzweil gave TSG Neustrelitz a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute. But the joy didn't last long, because FSV Malchin equalized in the 76th minute through Felix Rümker after Mark Wagenknecht had served him with an exemplary cross.

A thrilling finale

Just when the Malchiners were gaining hope, Kurzweil struck again. Just two minutes after the equalizer, he gave TSG Neustrelitz the lead again in the 78th minute and thus secured the cup victory. After the final whistle, big celebrations broke out among the Neustrelitz team, while FSV player coach Marcus Budniak emphasized that the game was a lot of fun and his team felt stronger despite the defeat.

The Mecklenburg Lake District District Cup has written another chapter in the club's history for TSG Neustrelitz.
