As is often the case, everyday life can take tricky turns. On August 11, 2025, at around 1:15 p.m. there was a serious traffic accident on federal highway 104 near Bismark, in the Neuenkrug area. A 27-year-old Ukrainian driver of a VW Crafter and a 48-year-old Polish driver in a Peugeot were involved. Both were seriously injured in the collision, which not only turned their lives upside down, but also significantly affected the flow of traffic on the B104.
The accident occurred when the van driver intended to turn left onto a property and failed to notice the oncoming car. The consequences were serious: both people involved in the accident had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. The man was transported to Neubrandenburg, while the woman was hospitalized in Eberswalde. The Neubrandenburg police informed about the incident and confirmed that the federal highway was completely closed for three and a half hours in order to secure the scene of the accident and to tow away the vehicles that were no longer drivable. The estimated material damage amounts to around 50,000 euros, which is very considerable and illustrates the seriousness of the incident.
