SPD-Western Pomerania: Erik von Malottki re-elected with 96%!
In Pasewalk, the SPD district association Vorpommern-Greifswald recently took an important step within the party. At a district party conference in the cuirassier barracks, Erik von Malottki was re-elected chairman with an impressive 96 percent of the vote. This re-election is not only a sign of trust, but also a clear statement regarding the coming challenges in 2026.
The focus is particularly on the state elections, where von Malottki and his colleagues have made it their mission to defend the SPD's direct mandates and to fully support Manuela Schwesig as Prime Minister. With such an ambitious project, it is important to strengthen your own membership base in order to stop the dominance of the AfD and CDU in the district council.
Civic engagement and current concerns
An outstanding example of citizen engagement became clear during the party conference: over 2,000 signatures were collected for the preservation of the Stolper Ferry. This shows how much the region's residents care about their infrastructure.
The SPD's demands are diverse, such as the expansion of the on-call bus system in Eastern Western Pomerania and the advancement of important rail projects. Another innovative proposal involves introducing mandatory first aid courses for ninth graders to strengthen society and better prepare for emergencies.
In view of the declining number of children, the promotion of smaller groups is a central issue at daycare centers. Here too, the SPD shows foresight and is committed to maintaining the existing facilities.
Candidacy in constituency 3
Another exciting aspect is the candidacy of Erik von Malottki in constituency 3, which includes the Neubrandenburg urban areas. His strong connection to the city and the large number of experienced candidates in Western Pomerania are good reasons for him to take on this challenge.
With the 9th state parliament for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which will be elected on September 20, 2026, not only party political competition will come to the fore, but also the responsibility to raise one's own voice in politics and to actively represent the interests of the citizens.
While Erik von Malottki looks back on a successful re-election, the clear goal of the SPD in Vorpommern-Greifswald becomes clear: it is important to passionately advocate for the interests of the population and to create clear perspectives for the future.
