New parking spaces for mobile homes in Schwaan: A tourist highlight!
In Schwaan, a picturesque town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, everything is currently focused on plans for new mobile home parking spaces. The city council has dealt intensively with the issue and is planning to create four new parking spaces on Güstrower Straße between the festival meadow and the Warnow Bridge. The motion for this came from the Schwaan Independent Voters and was discussed lively in the Tourism Committee NDR reported.
The city currently offers overnight accommodation at the campsite at the sand garden and in the climbing forest. But the planned project poses a challenge: the Warnow often floods the areas in spring and autumn. However, supporters of the proposal are optimistic that this would not be a problem since most campers travel in the summer. This new initiative could not only be a win for the city, but also represent good business for local restaurants and tourism.
Attractions and infrastructure
The campsite in Schwaan, which is idyllically located next to the forest and a short distance from Warnow, already has a lot to offer. With its 400 parceled parking spaces, all of which have a power connection, the facility impresses with its modern facilities. Campinggate describes that half of the site is forested and has a sandy beach - a perfect place to enjoy nature. There are also washrooms, a snack bar and kiosks to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
There are two playgrounds for the little guests - one for the little ones and one for the older ones. The leisure options are also diverse: fishing, rowing and swimming are very popular. The surrounding excursion destinations such as Rostock, Schwerin and the Baltic Sea coast can also be easily reached and are certainly an attraction for camping guests.
Camping tourism on the rise
Camping tourism is booming in Germany and is an essential part of the tourism industry Statista turns out. With over 3,100 campsites throughout the country and around 26,700 pitches in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the region is a popular destination for campers. Most recently, around 43 million overnight stays were counted on German campsites, which underlines the trend. More and more Germans are appreciating camping holidays and the number of new registrations of mobile homes and caravans is constantly increasing.
In 2025, the number of mobile homes in Germany will exceed 981,000. With this general enthusiasm for camping, the planned project in Schwaan could come at just the right time to further stimulate tourist flows in the region and position the city as an attractive destination.
The costs for installing the water and electricity connections on the new parking spaces amount to around 8,000 euros. If everything goes according to plan, Schwaan could soon become a hotspot for motorhome travelers.
