An important step for the Vorpommern-Rügen region: On November 7, 2025, the new central bus station (ZOB) in Tribsees was ceremoniously inaugurated. The opening aims to significantly improve connections to the major cities of Rostock, Stralsund and Greifswald. In the future, the bus station will be the hub for a total of seven bus routes, which will optimize traffic in the region.
For example, one line will directly connect Greifswald with Rostock, while another will run from Stralsund via Tribsees to Rostock. There are also five other lines that serve surrounding villages, including the popular on-call buses that offer flexible mobility.
Modern amenities for travelers
The new central bus station shines not only with its central location, but also with its well-thought-out furnishings. Five bus platforms, a central display board with departure times and digital displays on the bus platforms ensure that travelers are always informed. In addition, waiting rooms and toilets have been set up for the convenience of passengers.
The project was financed with an investment volume of 600,000 euros, with two thirds of the costs being borne by the state and the remaining 200,000 euros coming from the Tribsees city treasury. Another plus point is the improved accessibility of the train through the Sanitz stop, which further strengthens local public transport.
