North Cross scandal: Right-wing extremist group under pressure-investigations set!
The right -wing extremist group "Nordkreuz" also causes excitement years after its first public perception. In August 2017, the anti-terrorist unit GSG9 conducted searches with several members of the group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which led to frightening finds. Among other things, illegal weapons, thousands of shot ammunition and address lists of political opponents were discovered. These lists contain names of personalities from the left spectrum, which caused an outcry in state politics. The investigators suspected that the group speculated on a collapse of public order and saw this as an opportunity to pursue politically dissenters. According to [NDR] (https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/nordkreuz-als-die-warnungen-verhrten, nordkreuz-102.html) the group had founded around 30 members in a chat group, which was founded by Marko G., a former SEK official.
In the following years, the investigation remained an issue for the political committees. A parliamentary committee of inquiry dealt with the entanglements of civil servants into these right -wing extremists. Witness reports referred to a dangerous armed group, which was closely networked by the administrator of the Nordkreuz Group, Marko G., and other members. There were indications of Marko G.'s right -wing extremist attitude that had been documented since 2009. Despite these burdens, the investigations by the Federal Attorney General hired two members in 2023 - this due to lack of suspicion, which surprised and angry.
The review of the past
in 2019 Marko G. was sentenced to a probation for illegal gun ownership after a machine gun and 30,000 round ammunition had been ensured. Even if the Nordkreuz chat group no longer exists, there are still contacts between former members. Among them is Haik Jaeger, who was sentenced to a fine due to a violation of the 2023 weapons law. In the meantime, the Interior Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania emphasized that the investigators had done extensive preparatory work to illuminate the right-wing extremist structures.
Current developments
The investigations by the police against Nordkreuz and the investigations by the committee of inquiry will continue to be continued. Further witness surveys are planned, also with the former state minister Lorenz Caffier, who focused on in connection with the group. Caffier was convicted because he was given a pistol from an arms dealer and ex-North Cross member.
According to the current constitutional protection report, there is a worrying trend: The number of violent right -wing extremists in Germany has increased. In 2024, the personal potential was around 15,300 people, and the registered right -wing extremist crimes did not stop climbing. Bodily harmful offenses with xenophobic background are particularly affected, which reports by 4.8 %, as the constitutional protection. Such figures make it clear that the pressure on the security authorities does not allow.
