All auction fans in Wismar can look forward to exciting events in the coming weeks. In the spirit of lost property and art, there will be two auctions that promise variety and interesting offers.
Lost property auction on the horizon
The Hanseatic City of Wismar is organizing an online auction of unclaimed lost property, which will take place from December 8th, 2025 at midnight to December 22nd, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. on the platform www.fundbürodeutschland.de. Anyone interested in bicycles, jewelry and watches should definitely register, as registration is required for future auctions. All lost property must be stored for at least six months before it finally becomes the property of the city. The proceeds from the auction flow into the city's budget, which also makes the event an important source of income. A preview of the items on offer will be available online starting November 8, 2025. However, those interested should note that it is not possible to view the lost property as everything is done online.
Art auction with special highlights
On November 7, 2025, the 27th art auction of the Wismar Art Association will take place in the courthouse of the town hall. Up to 40 works of art by club members and three guest artists, including Juliane Laitzsch, Barbara Wetzel and Wolfgang Friedrich, will go under the hammer here. A very special highlight is the work “Broken Love”, a ceramic by Lena Biesalski, which is being auctioned off to benefit the Wismar Christian Aid Association. The proceeds will benefit a Christmas package campaign in Pogradec, Albania.
The preview of the works of art will take place from November 3rd to 7th, 2025 daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the courthouse. On the day of the auction, entry begins at 6 p.m., a buffet will be offered at 7 p.m. before the auction starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost 20 euros and are available either in the “Behind the Town Hall” gallery or can be reserved by email, telephone or Instagram.
