Influence of drugs: Driver flees after accident in Rüting!
In Rüting, in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, there was a shocking incident on Tuesday, November 4th, in which a 30-year-old driver caused a traffic accident under the influence of drugs and then fled the scene of the accident. As nordkurier.de reports, the driver's car left the road, drove over a grass verge and damaged a cycle path.
An attentive witness observed the incident and informed the police, who immediately rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, the vehicle had already disappeared by the time they arrived. However, the damaged car was later discovered on the premises of a gas station in Upahl, where the driver was also found.
Drug use test
A drug test did not go well with the 30-year-old: it showed that he had consumed cocaine, which further complicated the situation for him. The police then ordered a blood test at the Wismar Clinic and his driver's license was confiscated. The car, which was no longer drivable, had to be towed away.
The resulting material damage amounts to a low four-digit amount. As a result, the man is investigated for several offenses. These include:
- Gefährdung des Straßenverkehrs
- Unerlaubtes Entfernen vom Unfallort
- Verstoß gegen das Betäubungsmittelgesetz
As the investigation continues, it is becoming clear that such reckless behavior cannot be accepted on the streets. The authorities appeal to all road users to act responsibly and not to get behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs. After all, it is not just your own safety that is at stake, but also that of other road users.
The hope remains for everyone involved that such incidents can be avoided in the future in order to prevent tragedies on our roads.
