Horst Krumpen voted the district chairman again - a strong sign!

A lot is happening around the political landscape in Northwest Mecklenburg: Last weekend, the Left Party was the regular elections as the district board. And the result is impressive! Horst Krumpen was voted the district chairman again with a large majority - only one vote against. This is now his sixth term, and Krumpen himself was more than pleased in his acceptance speech about the trust that he is shown. In addition, he proudly reported that the party has won more than 60 new members since the beginning of the year, bringing a breath of fresh air to political events.

The composition of the new board, which reflects the geographical diversity of the district, is particularly remarkable. The new faces also include Roland Kargel from Wismar, who was elected as deputy chairman, and Annegret Tschersich from Neukloster, who was appointed district treasurer. A real step towards gender parity: The board consists of 6 women and 5 men, which corresponds to a positive trend in the party composition and makes the waiting for equality clear.

committed candidates for the federal elections

Not only at the board level. On December 14, 2023, the direct candidates for the Bundestag election were also set up at a delegate meeting. Horst Krumpen was again nominated for the constituency 13 without a vote against. His committed speech, in which he provided a critical analysis of the current political situation, revealed his conviction that the left will position itself as a peace party and will continue to stand up for social justice in the coming election campaign times.

In this context, the challenges that the richest population layer in society has to do was also emphasized in order to help the poorest. A clear message that Krumpen sees itself as essential for solidarity cohesion in society. Together with Ina Latendorf, which was also elected as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency 12 without a vote, the two are ready to keep a committed election campaign. Latendorf, a lawyer with connections to the agricultural sector, addressed the concerns of agricultural policy and rural development in her speech.

women in politics - an immense progress

An interesting detail that should not go unmentioned: The proportion of women in the Left Party is quite respectable at over 33%, but remains underrepresented compared to the total population. However, this development is contrary to the current social conditions in which women provide more than half of the population. Information showed that the proportion of women in the Left Party was relatively stable, but in other parties such as the AfD or FDP is significantly lower bpb.de shows that progress is also urgently necessary here.

For the left in Northwest Mecklenburg, it is clear that you want to continue to campaign for a solidarity. With Horst Krumpen at the top and the new board team, the party seems to be well positioned in order to come in the way of the company's upcoming challenges.
