On the weekend of July 19th to 20th, 2025 it will be “moin hello hola salut” again in the historic Rehna Monastery. The 14th monastery festival invites visitors to immerse themselves in the diverse cultural landscape. For the first time in the role of organizer, the city of Rehna is annoying and is putting together a varied program that appeals to all generations, as it already does Ostsee-Zeitung reports.

The festival has a long tradition – it was launched by the monastery association 28 years ago. A lot has happened since then. Local artisans present their work on the church square: from ironwork and woodwork to ceramics and textiles, felt items and natural cosmetics. You can get a good deal there if you want to take a souvenir home with you!

Cultural diversity

One of the highlights of the festival is the music program. On Saturday evening at 4 p.m., the Berlin ensemble “Sistanagila” will perform and bring folk and religious melodies, while the German-French duo “Soleil vert” will set the mood with chansons at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. it gets churchy: Christoph D. Minke makes the nuns' garden ring with his organ playing. The band “Satolstelamanderfanz” will also be on stage several times and will get your legs moving with folk songs and dance music.

A colorful children's program awaits the little visitors in the “Kinderland”. Here they can take part in craft demonstrations, draw manga characters and create creative mosaics. Jugglers Max & Moritz also provide entertainment with juggling and acrobatics.

Insights into art and literature

Culture is by no means neglected in the monastery festival. In addition to the musical performances, there will also be a reading by author Marica Bodrožić, who will read from her book “The Heart Floret” on Saturday at 3 p.m. The exhibitions include, among other things, the art project “Good morning, world” with photographs by contemporary artists, while Rehna students exhibit posters about countries around the world.

Little hands will also be able to immerse themselves in Japanese culture at the bonsai exhibition. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, don't worry - many events take place indoors!

Practical information

When it comes to food, there is something for every taste: from hearty food to pizza and falafel to crepes and home-baked cakes. This way you can strengthen yourself during the festival and enjoy the cheerful hours without any worries.

The ticket prices are fair: a day ticket costs 10 euros (reduced 8 euros), while the weekend ticket is available for 15 euros (reduced 12 euros).
