New radio tower in Bössow: mobile communications revolution for Warnow!
In the community of Warnow, especially in the districts of Gantenbeck and Bössow, there have been major difficulties with mobile phone connections. Often it was only possible to receive a signal in high places. But now you can breathe a sigh of relief because a new 50 meter high radio tower was built near Bössow to significantly improve mobile phone coverage.
Thanks to the new tower, which provides coverage of 50 square kilometers, connections should now be more stable. The Munich-based company ATC Germany built the tower on behalf of Telefonica. Planning for this site began in 2021, and planning permission was finally granted in 2023. A landscaping plan for the 50 square meter area was drawn up and some trees were planted to compensate.
Technical details and challenges
The impressive radio tower weighs an impressive 22.5 tons and stands at a height of 35 meters above sea level. A particular challenge was the power supply, which could, however, be secured using a fast low-voltage line from Edis. The signal is transmitted to the antennas via a fiber optic network, which promises a reliable connection.
An important aspect is that emergency calls must work on all antennas. This was ensured through a comprehensive test run to guarantee smooth data transfer with G4. The radio tower is now in continuous operation and should provide a significant improvement for residents and tourists visiting the region.
Mobile phone coverage in Germany
Those interested also have the opportunity to find out about the current mobile phone coverage in Germany. The Federal Network Agency offers an interactive mobile communications map that provides comprehensive data on the 2G, 4G and 5G mobile communications standards. Users can simply enter their zip code, street or city to find out where dead spots exist or where the connection is particularly strong.
Another advantage of the card is the ability for users to detect dead spots via broadband measurement or the dead spot app. This information helps mobile network operators review and improve their data so that citizens and visitors can benefit from modern connections.
Christian Pegel, the Minister for the Interior, Construction and Digitalization in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, emphasized the importance of mobile communications for all age groups and the tourism sector. He emphasizes that good mobile phone coverage can also contribute to the quality of life in the region.
With the new radio tower in Bössow, it will now be possible to make better calls and surf the Internet throughout the community. The efforts to expand the mobile communications infrastructure show that someone with a good hand is committed to the future.
