Rock at the church: a festival for music and compassion in Carlow!

in Carlow, a charming place in Northwest Mecklenburg, it will soon go back! From July 11th to 13th the popular “Rock at the Church” festival will take place, which is not only enthusiastic about music fans, but is also organized for a good cause. The event has been attracting hundreds of visitors who can look forward to a colorful program for more than 15 years. In the first part of the festival, on Friday, July 11th, an open-air cinema starts at 9 p.m. with the French comedy "Monsieur Claude 2". A great start that will attract many film fans in front of the church, such as Nordkurier.

But Saturday, July 12th, the highlight of the weekend will be: from 6 p.m. there will be several bands on stage, including Ricas Palace, Alexander Blume, Siena Rien, Maximilian Blume, Locked in, Banana Concrete and Scoville Drive. There is something for every taste of music! So the musical entertainment is taken care of and last but not least, the rousing music promises a great atmosphere.

The good purpose behind the festival

But the focus is not just on music. The festival also has a deep social aspect. The event is organized by the Evangelical parish of Carlow and the Kulturkreis Carlow to collect donations. This year the support flows to "Borderline Europe - Human Rights Without Borders" and various local projects. All artists and helpers work free of charge, so that the entire income of the good cause benefits. The hoped -for number of visitors is in the hundreds, which shows that the commitment to these projects is also strongly anchored in the population.

Visitors can also look forward to a joint experience. A musical service with the mixed choir Carlow on Sunday, July 13th, at 11 a.m., rounds off the weekend and brings the participants together. A good opportunity to calm down after the rocking sounds on Saturday.

funding from the Federal Government

In a time when events in many places were partly affected by the effects of pandemic, the federal government sees the importance of festivals as a cultural backbone and therefore launched the festival funding fund in 2023. This supports festivals with up to 50,000 euros to promote cultural diversity and regional structures. This funding is particularly intended for smaller festivals outside of the large metropolises, as the [Ministry of Culture] (https://kulturstaatsminminister.de/foerderung-der-deutschen- Festival landscape) emphasized.

The festival in Carlow benefits from this approach, as it focuses on social projects and broad participation. Although without direct funding last year, the Culture Circle of Carlow shows that they work with passion and commitment to create a unique experience and at the same time make a contribution to society.

So snap your friends and family and get ready for a moving weekend full of music and community. "Rock on the Church" has something to offer for everyone and is an ideal occasion to enjoy the summer evenings!
