Missing snowy owl Hedwig: reward offered for her return!
The tame snowy owl Hedwig has been missing since October 24, 2025. Her adventure began when a storm opened her aviary door and she left her usual surroundings at Falkenhof Lenggries-Wegscheid. The search for the eye-catching owl, which was a crowd favorite thanks to its charming nature, is in full swing. Sightings of Hedwig have been reported in Woez, Ticino and Neuhof as well as at Lake Neumühle in recent days Northern Courier with.
Gerd Dräger, Hedwig's falconer, has already received numerous calls regarding possible sightings. The last confirmed locations took the owl over 30 kilometers to the northeast, where it was discovered, among other places, in Klein Welzin and on the B104, in Badow-Ausbau and Boddin. To intensify the search, Dräger has laid out bait because Hedwig may be looking for food in the area.
A friendly owl
The hand-raised Hedwig was born in June 2004 at a breeder in Erding and has lived in the Falkenhof since she was a child. Paul Klima, the operator of the Falkenhof, fulfilled a childhood dream with this zoo. In addition to Hedwig, other fascinating birds of prey such as the peregrine falcon Pauli, eagle owl Bubi and a griffon vulture also live there. The office organization also receives active support, for example from Martina Klima and Gabi Mayer, who take care of the animals. The Falkenhof is very popular, with 11,000 visitors welcomed in 2006, underlining the success of the project. Traunsteiner Tagblatt reports that the Falkenhof plans to continue to expand its offerings through nature adventure hikes and traditional agriculture projects in the future.
Not only is Hedwig an owl, she wears folding boots with black and white ribbons on her feet, making her easy to spot. Gerd Dräger appeals to citizens: “Please approach her in a friendly manner with “Hedy” and try to cover her with a jacket before you grab her.” A reward of 200 euros has been offered for information or for keeping Hedwig alive. All sightings can be reported by calling 0152 2547 1905.
During this exciting time, there remains great hope that Hedwig will not only be found soon, but will also be able to return to her beloved Falkenhof, where she brought joy to many people. Paul Klima's team will continue to do everything they can to locate the faithful owl and bring it back safely.
