Santa Claus on the village pond: Record bathtub regatta enthusiastic!

at the Pocent village pond took the bathtub regatta an amusing course that maintained the spectators in heavy rain. Organized by Martin Nickel, the event brought a fresh air to the village again this year and attracted numerous participants. Rüdiger Krüger and Raimund Stenzel, who presented themselves as Santa Claus and Knecht Ruprecht in an entertaining show and distributed gifts to the spectators present while swimming on their specially created boats.

A total of 16 teams competed, which is a new record for the event. The weather conditions were not exactly ideal - heavy rain ensured that many spectators were looking for protection. Among the four boats started was the "flying carpet", which, however, had to deal with technical problems several times and sank. The last boat, the "Bartbusters", was an impressive Cadillac made of cardboard.

A look at the further event landscape

The bathtub regatta in Röbel celebrated its comeback after a 13 -year break and will take place for the 24th time on June 22, 2024. Organized by passionate enthusiasts, participants from all areas can compete here - from individual captains to school classes and companies. The "boats" have to swim at least an hour and can only be driven with muscle or wind power. Reviews are carried out by a jury that evaluates the originality of the tubs and crews on a scale of 1 to 6. Over the years, more than 700 bathtubs have participated in the regatta, which makes the event a real highlight in the event calendar. Another highlight in the event calendar is the 25th bathtub regatta in Banzkow, which will take place on the last Saturday in July. Here the Banzkower Karnevalsclub organizes a competition in which companions only operated with muscle strength. Creativity is required: in addition to the race, the most original "boats" and costumes are awarded. The regatta is aligned in parallel to a children's festival, in which the little visitors have the opportunity to enjoy bouncy castles and other attractions. The bathtub regatta are a wonderful example of creative events that promote fun and feeling of community. Whether in Pokrent, Röbel or Banzkow - the participants are there everywhere with a lot of joy and inventiveness, and not just on the water!
