Wismar is happy: Woolworth is opening a new branch with a large selection!

Woolworth has big plans: On Thursday, July 10th, the retailer is opening a new branch in Wismar, the eleventh location in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Located in the Marktkauf Center on Zierower Landstrasse, the new branch is moving into the premises of the former Depot branch, which had to close in April last year after bankruptcy. With a sales area of 490 square meters, Woolworth provides around 10,000 items for everyday needs. The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and around twelve employees are employed, although full- and part-time employees are still being sought. On opening day there will be a small party with a presenter, free popcorn for the first 1,000 guests and a wheel of fortune, which will certainly create a good atmosphere.

As the Baltic Sea newspaper reports, the new shopping options not only offer a colorful range of products from decorative and household items to electrical and drugstore goods, but also clothing. A strong plus for customers in the region!

Sustainable expansion in Germany

The new opening in Wismar is part of Woolworth's ambitious growth plans, which have been underway since 2023. The company plans to expand its branch network in Germany by a full 800 new locations, increasing the total number to 1,500. According to the Ruhr24 14 new branches will be opening in the next two months, with Wismar in the front row. Since opening its 700th store in April 2024, Woolworths has shown that it has confidence in the German market and is continuing to grow.

There is also an eye-catcher: Woolworth plans to expand not only in Germany but also internationally by the end of the year - with branches in Poland and a market entry in Austria, which is planned for November 2023. In the long term, the aim is to have 5,000 branches in Europe. The NextG emphasizes that Woolworth not only wants to penetrate new markets, but also creates new jobs at the same time. The company provides over 200 new training positions in Germany every year.

The various planned new openings are not only a benefit for Woolworths, but also for the regions in which new branches are being built. Wismar on July 10th will not be the last new opening in the coming weeks, followed by further branches in cities like Hof or Boppard by the end of July. There's something going on! Woolworth's commitment is reflected in the diversity of the range on offer and the clear strategy to expand the branch network.
