Amber vending machines on the Baltic Sea: Now success will be the new happiness!

The Baltic Sea region is not only proving to be a popular travel destination, but is also surprising with innovative ideas. A very special attraction are the new amber vending machines that have been set up at various locations along the coast. If you would like to own a piece of amber or even a thunderbolt, you simply need a coin and turn the handle - similar to a chewing gum machine. The ambers are neatly packaged, individually in plastic sleeves, and come from a local dealer.

The idea for these machines comes from the creative mind Mathias Oppen from Ribnitz-Damgarten. Inspired by Polish machines, the first of this new type was installed in February 2023. The concept was met with great enthusiasm and even the amber museum in the region showed interest. The machines can now be found in important locations, such as in Graal-Müritz, where there are two of them, and one in Dierhagen. Another machine is planned for Prerow. Overall, the project is a family business - Mathias Oppen works on it together with his father-in-law and his father.

Amber and art from the region

Mathias Oppen is not only an innovator in the amber scene, but also a full-time graffiti artist. He started graffiti at the age of 15 during a school project and has continued to develop since then. His maritime art is not only praised in his hometown, but also shows North German motifs that find their place in numerous commissions. Many of his designs are created digitally on a tablet, which makes it easier to work closely with customers.

But it's not just the machines and graffiti that visitors encounter in the region; The foam factory in Damgarten attracts many people. Here guests can experience the art of amber jewelry making up close. The factory has been in operation since 2000 and has already been awarded a design award. Visitors have the opportunity to watch the employees at work cutting and polishing the amber. There are also special offers for children and adults to get creative themselves.

A place for the whole family

The foam factory not only offers insights into jewelry making, but is also a popular place for families. With Europe's most extensive amber jewelry sales exhibition over three floors and a bistro with coffee and cake, there is something for everyone. Disabled-accessible toilet rooms and free parking spaces are also available, as well as a direct connection to the cycle path.

Anyone visiting the Baltic Sea coast should definitely not miss the new amber machines and the fascinating offers from the foam factory. The combination of regional art, tradition and modern entrepreneurial spirit make this part of Germany particularly attractive.

The exciting development of amber jewelry and Oppen's creative art prove that the region has a lot to offer - for both connoisseurs and newcomers to the field of amber and art treasures.
